About us, and our vision

TLW is a two man operation started and run by my husband and I. My name is Megh and his name is Brett. The idea was conceived in 2005 when we were working in downtown SLC. I worked at Nordstrom and Brett worked at the church office building. When my shift would end before Brett’s I would spend some time in the Church Archives which are in the building where Brett works. It was there I found the Relief Society magazine. It was in publication from 1876 to 1970. Even though the magazines were over 30 years old, they still held within them a sense of unity and vision, of a group of sisters bonded together for all good things. It uplifted and edified all aspects of a woman’s life. It shared stories about sisters and stories written by sisters. It talked about gospel topics and homemaking ideas and women in business. It highlighted everyday sisters and the subtle but important differences that they were making in the lives of those around them.
I wanted this. The church is all over the world. There are sisters in the gospel in almost every country and we are all working for the same thing, spreading the gospel and inspiring good in our families and communities. I want to know these sisters. I want to hear their testimonies and the result of their labors for good. I want to share my hopes and aspirations with other sisters of the same heart. This is TheLDSWoman. This is our vision.
With my desire and Brett’s talents as a PHP programmer, theldswoman.com was born. We decided to make a website that would act as a magazine and a social network, in a way only the internet could provide. We made it as good as we could, and we promise to continue to make it better everyday. We decided to make every feature on this website 100% FREE. We disliked any thought of a subscription fee, sign up fee, or anything of the kind. It is our vision for every LDS woman to be in connection with, and edify one another. We want to be able to feel the pulse of our organization worldwide. We want an international and multilingual website. We want to break down walls of cities, states, and countries so we could pull back the curtain on who we really are: daughters of our Heavenly Father, and Sisters in Zion. We simply want to make a difference.
Theldswoman.com is a revolutionary website. You don't have to sit back and wait for a newsletter or an issue with a couple of stories, articles, and recipes like any other magazine or website. You have the right to be heard, to share your knowledge, to speak your mind, and to write articles, just as much as we do. It is a new breed of website, referred to as Web 2.0. The member of the website has the ability to add content to the website, just like the owner. Blogs and social networking sites started the trend. We have taken it to the next level. We have combined them, and added the concept of an open magazine, focused solely on the LDS woman. TheLDSWoman.com is your life, your website.
